TEACH IN BAMA

Teach in Bama

The Teach in Bama (TIB) teacher pipeline scholarship program was developed to increase the number of students in the educator preparation program at The University of Alabama.

According to the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, the number of students in the U.S. completing traditional teacher education programs between 2008-2019 dropped by more than one third. The 2025 Alabama Report Card indicated that there are over 3,400 teacher shortages in the state.

The Teach in Bama program is designed to recruit, train and retain talented individuals who have the potential to become successful teachers and consists of several stages. These stages include identifying potential candidates and providing them with academic and professional development opportunities while mentoring and supporting them throughout their academic careers and initial teaching experiences. The program also aims to expand the teaching workforce by recruiting candidates with a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
